Sadeer Foundation participated in the International Conference on Religious Freedom and Citizenship, which was held for three days in Rome. Dr. Hamid AlKhafaji attended on behalf of the Sadeer Foundation.
In his speech, Dr. AlKhafaji noted the importance of spreading the spirit of citizenship among believing peoples through exposure to meaningful religious texts, which promotes citizenship and peaceful coexistence, especially in the Islamic heritage that indicates love for the country and citizenship and not separating religious identity from national identity. He also indicated that the supreme religious authority (Marjaiyah) among the followers of the Shiite school in Najaf Holy City was the best example in the region..
When the religious authority called for standing up to ISIS for the occupation of Iraq, the supreme authority in its words was clearly keen on mixing religious and national identity to mobilize the citizens of Iraq to defend their country, which led to implanting the spirit of citizenship among Iraqis regardless of their religious affiliations.
The attendees of this meeting also praised the Foundation’s positions and thanked Sadeer for its communication and interest in renouncing violence and calling for peaceful coexistence through dialogue and constant communication.
